Disaster Relief Money Coming to You
The Federal Government passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which will help millions of people and the national economy. Might you qualify for any of the following payments?
- Cash – if your income is less than $75,000, a one-time cash payment of $1,200 might soon land in your bank account. Parents would receive additional $500 per child.
- Unemployment Compensation – Additional $600 per week from the federal government plus California’s existing benefits that are based on previous salary amounts. This supplemental payment will last for four months and the waiting period is waived.
- Small Business Loans – business owners with fewer than 500 employees may qualify for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) of up to $10,000 to cover certain operating costs, as well as Small Business Loans of up to $10 million per business. Loan proceeds used to maintain payroll, keep workers on the books, or pay for rent, mortgage and existing debt could be forgiven, provided workers maintain their jobs through the end of June.
