Like its neighboring Silicon Valley cities, Sunnyvale is made up of different homogenous neighborhoods. The affluence of a particular neighborhood correlates directly with the school that it is zoned for. The schools are excellent all around, ranking from "very good" to "best," so there is no shortage of options for residents with children. Most homes are ranch or cottage style, with condos and apartments located near Sunnyvale's downtown. Another perk: Sunnyvale boasts some of the lowest crime writes in the USA, making this a great option for families and anyone looking for calm, California living.

Sunnyvale has access to the Valley Transportation Authority public transportation system, which includes the 69 bus routes and a light rail throughout San Jose and Santa Clara Valley. Though mostly suburban, there is much to see and do in Sunnyvale! There are several hundred restaurants spanning many cuisine styles, including some delicious ethnic fare. Although it is not known for its active night life scene, there are some great bar/lounge options and nearby Silicon Valley cities with more active downtowns. Head to historic Murphy Avenue for a charming tree-lined street filled with local shops, eateries, and a Farmer's Market every Saturday. Outdoorsy types will love Sunnyvale, with nearly 20 parks featuring playgrounds, picnic space, off-leash areas, and volleyball courts, there is no shortage of ways to soak in the California sunshine. Another plus? The Santa Cruz mountains are just a short drive away! Other noteworthy spots: St. John's Bar and Grill for "The Best Burgers in Silicon Valley," Full Circle Farm, a fully functional farm open to the public, and Baylands Park for ample recreational space and hiking trails.
